Bricolage will continue to keep our community updated as the state of the COVID-19 virus and its impact on our programming and services evolve.
Governor John Bel Edwards has officially extended the stay-at-home order through April 30th. In accordance with the proclamation, the facilities of Bricolage Academy will continue to remain inaccessible for the duration of the month of April.
As a reminder, Bricolage will observe Spring Break beginning Friday, April 10th and ending Tuesday, April 14th. We will be back in touch with you on Friday, April 17.
We will update families through:
- We are resuming our weekly Bricolage Family Announcements schedule. You will receive our Weekly Announcements every Wednesday evening.
- Should we receive important/immediate information, we will update families through email and social media platforms
- Weekly contact from your child's teacher. Should you no longer want to receive frequent communication from your child’s teacher at this time, please click here to opt out.
- Our website will house all updates and resources here. This page will be reviewed and updated daily by school administration.

Instructional Materials During Extended School Closure:
All Pre-K-6th grade extended school closure instructional materials from March 16th - 27th and March 30th - April 10th can be found here.
Click your child’s grade level folder to access instructional materials. Materials include student work packets for March 16th - 27th, student work packets for March 30th-April 10th, and additional resources like sample at home schedules.
To help slow the spread and flatten the curve of COVID -19 student work packets for March 30th - April 10th will NOT be available for pick up at Bricolage.
Families can access the materials electronically or request a copy of the materials via mail by sending your child’s name, grade, and preferred mailing address to email@example.com or calling 504-250-5719.
Please note that 2nd through 6th grade student work packets DO NOT have to be completed on hard copies of the workbooks. Student work can be completed on any paper you have at home.
Pre-k through 1st grade packets DO include activities that require a printed copy of the packet to complete.
Our academic programming during this extended closure will remain a paper-based model. Student work packets for April 15th - April 30th will be mailed to all families.
Please note that given the continued spread of the COVID-19 virus, Bricolage will no longer expect students to return their completed packets once in-person school sessions resume.
Find Grade Level Instructional Materials Here.
Every Bricolage student should have heard from one of their teachers. If you did not hear from us, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 504-250-5719 to confirm that we have your correct telephone number.
In addition to student work packets, each grade level has created a grade level specific YouTube channel.
These channels will provide students with fun videos to supplement the work they are doing at home. Students ARE NOT required to watch videos. These channels are strictly supplemental tools that you can use to further engage your student(s).
New videos will be uploaded to these channels weekly. You are able to access these videos on your phone, tablet or computer.
Please find the links to your child’s grade level YouTube channel below.
Co-curricular Virtual Hangouts:
The co-curricular team is excited to host virtual hangouts for all students in grades 3-6! Below, you will find each teacher’s name with a corresponding date/time. Each call will be thirty minutes and will be designed to check in and facilitate conversation with students. These are OPTIONAL to families and intended for kids to reconnect with teachers and classmates.
To access, click on the link offered to each teacher and that should direct you to the room. The links will not be active until 10 minutes before the scheduled time. If early, your child will wait until the teacher invites everyone in at scheduled time. This is our first week at this set up. We look forward to working out the kinks, getting your feedback, and providing opportunities for kids to connect! Email co-curricular teacher directly if you have any questions or concerns.
NOLA-PS has procured several Chromebook laptops and wi-fi hotspots to assist families citywide with gaps in internet access and connectivity.
For the sake of equity, NOLA-PS is utilizing a formula rooted in Title I data and data Bricolage provided from our in-home tech survey. This formula will work to prioritize communities with the greatest need.
At this time, we do not expect to receive any portion of the wi-fi hotspots. It is also unclear how many Chromebooks will be made available to Bricolage.
Please note that should we receive any technology resources from NOLA-PS, we are certain they will not be enough to provide every Bricolage student with a device.
We will provide additional information regarding procured resources should we receive them. Please note student need, in-school technology practices, and the student’s current supplemental learning plan will be used to determine how we move forward with the distribution of these potential resources.

BricoRadio with Be Loud Studios:
This week, Be Loud Studios asked Bricolage students to share one way they were staying positive, healthy, and loud on this extended break from school. Students called in, sent us voice recordings, and Be Loud compiled them into one BricoRadio episode. We were so excited about the number of kids (and adults!) that called in and shout out to the two kid producers who put this together. For episode 3, we are asking kids of all ages to call in with advice during this challenging time. To participate, read the simple, three step instructions posted on the episode page. Additionally, be sure to follow Be Loud Studios on instagram @beloudstudios for other at home activities.
